Beekeeping Pests 101 Class Schedule: May 11th, 2024, at 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM, Saturday
Taking care of bees would be a lot easier if we didn't have any beekeeping pests to worry about. Wax moths, varroa mites, and beetles oh my! Some of these pests are worse than others but it's important to know about all of them.
This is an interactive 2 hour class where we will talk about these pests and share the tips and tricks to deal with them. During these classes, you will be able to venture out to our on-site hives and open them up. Fortunately (and unfortunately), we will look through our active colonies and identify small hive beetles and varroa mites and talk through the steps for dealing with them.
You will leave being able to identify the signs of the common pests in a beehive and be equipped with how to deal with them. You'll be able to see how a mite wash works and how to test for varroa mites in your own hive.
We will provide the protective gear you need for the class, but if you have your own gear, please bring it.
