Detailed Description

The Cypress Spacer & Pro Winter Feed Bundle is designed to support beekeepers through fall and winter hive management by combining a multi-use wooden spacer with a ready-to-use winter food source.

The cypress spacer functions as a feeder rim, treatment placement area, upper entrance, or quilt board. The top of the rim includes pre-drilled holes covered with removable screens. When left in place, the screens allow ventilation from the bottom of the hive through the top. When removed, the openings can be used as an upper entrance. The bottom of the rim features a large screen that supports feeders, treatments, or other materials while allowing bees to move freely through the hive.

When top feeding with baggie feeders or top feeders, the spacer provides the necessary clearance for bee access. During winter, Pro Winter Feed, fondant, or dry sugar can be placed directly inside the rim for easy access. Absorbent materials such as wood chips can also be added to the screened area to collect condensation and prevent moisture from dripping back onto the bees.

Pro Winter Feed is a soft sugar paste with a cookie-dough consistency that functions like fondant or a sugar brick. It is easy to scoop, shape, and place directly onto the top bars beneath an 8-frame or 10-frame inner cover, with no parchment or wax paper required. The formula is carbohydrate-based with very low protein content, helping provide energy without encouraging early brood production during cold months.

This bundle also supports the placement of varroa treatments that need to be positioned near the brood nest, including HopGuard, Formic Pro, Apiguard Varroa Mite Treatment, and similar products.
