Beginner Hive Kit - Deep and Medium Boxes

from 133.00

This beginner hive kit is the setup most beekeepers use when starting a new hive. The deep box and a medium box is standard equipment for installing a nucleus hive, a swarm or a package of bees. The alternative is a hive with all medium size boxes.

All of our langstroth equipment is made from 7/8-inch thick, smooth cypress boards. Creating a more durable, high quality hive with increased insulation.

While enough to start a colony of bees, two boxes alone will not be enough room to store the surplus honey each spring and summer. 3 - 5 medium boxes are recommended to hold the full amount of honey a normal hive can produce. A new hive will only need 1 - 2 additional medium boxes during the first year,.

Choose to have your boxes assembled and secured with nails, waterproof glue, and outdoor screws; as well as the outside painted with two coats of exterior grade primer and paint. Frames are fully built with staples, glue and twice dipped beeswax coated plastic black foundation. Or opt to assemble yourself and save about $50. If you choose to assembled yourself, check out our tools to make frame assembly and box assembly a snap.

All beginner kits come with frames and our black plastic foundation coated with a heavy layer of beeswax.

If you would like to have a solid bottom board instead of a screened bottom board, please comment during checkout.
