A small hive beetle trap that actually works. Each pan is made from heavyweight, 18 gauge aluminum and is designed to slide under the screen bottom board with it's low profile design. Ears surround the tray on all four sides, allowing the pan to rest in the same slot used to hold the sticky board for counting varroa mites. All four corners are welded together, ensuring a water tight seal under your hives.
Our small hive beetle traps are not able to universally fit all bottom boards, so we can't garuntee they will fit other manafacturers screen bottom boards. If you need a bottom board that will fit our beetle trap, click here.
Choose between an 8 frame small hive beetle trap or a 10 frame small hive beetle trap.
No flimsy metal here, our solidly built, thick metal pan will not flex when being moved, giving you security in knowing the oil will not spill out. The tray is deep enough to hold oil, diatamaceious earth or soapy water for catching small hive beetles and varroa mites. An over-sized handle allows you to check the tray with, our without gloves on.
Use our pan by sliding the tray into the grooves under the screen bottom board on a level hive. With a few inches of pan still sticking out, pour a thin layer of vegetable based oil, about 1/8-inch deep, in the bottom of the pan. Slide pan in fully to seal and check pan weekly for debris. Debris can be strained out and oil reused all season. Beetles and varroa mites will fall into the oil in the tray and cannot climb out.
