Medium beeswax foundation with hooks is a classic choice for beekeepers who want to give their colonies a natural, bee-preferred starting point. The embedded vertical wires strengthen the wax sheet, while the hooked top edge holds the foundation securely beneath the wedge bar of a medium wooden frame.

Medium sheets generally don’t require as much support as deep foundations, but cross-wiring your frames can still add stability—especially in warmer climates or when transporting hives.

Bees love 100% beeswax foundation, but it can take more time and tools to install properly compared to plastic options. If you want a simpler installation process while still giving bees a wax-rich surface, our double-waxed plastic foundation is an excellent balance between bee preference and beekeeper convenience.
