Detailed Description

This 8-Frame Inner Cover is designed to fit securely over the top of your hive boxes and beneath your outer cover, acting as an insulating and ventilating layer within your hive setup. It helps regulate airflow and humidity while preventing the bees from sealing the outer cover shut with propolis.

The center opening is precision-cut to fit a 70mm mason jar lid, making it ideal for feeding or ventilation during warm seasons. If your cover features an oval entrance, the same opening can also fit a porter bee escape, allowing bees to exit the super during honey collection without returning—an effective tool during harvesting. The opening also supports airflow by letting moisture escape, helping maintain proper hive humidity when paired with an upper vent or air gap.

Each cover comes fully assembled using Titebond glue, staples, and nails, ensuring a strong and lasting build. The outer rim is made from rot-resistant cypress wood, chosen for its long life in outdoor conditions, while the interior panel is crafted from high-quality plywood that resists swelling and warping when exposed to moisture.

The 8-Frame Inner Cover pairs perfectly with our 8- Frame Cypress Telescoping cover, ensuring a snug fit and easy removal during hive inspections. Without an inner cover, the telescoping lid can become tightly sealed to the hive, making it harder to remove.
