Medium 6 1/4 Inch Langstroth Frame, Wedged Top / Split Bottom with Holes
Our Medium 6 1/4 Inch Langstroth Frames are built with precision and attention to detail to meet the needs of both bees and beekeepers. Each frame is designed to maintain the natural “bee space” inside the hive—the exact gap bees prefer between combs—ensuring smooth hive operation and easy inspection. When properly placed, these frames align perfectly in the box, allowing for optimal spacing, strong comb building, and convenient handling during inspections and honey harvesting.

Detailed Description
Each Medium 6 1/4 Inch Langstroth Frame is crafted for use in medium or honey boxes, where bees store surplus honey for harvesting or winter reserves. The frame design ensures ideal spacing inside the hive, giving bees the room they need to build comb naturally and efficiently.
Each frame includes four separate components — a wedged top bar, split bottom bar, and two sidebars with holes — that fit together securely using wood glue, nails, or staples. When assembled, the frame provides a sturdy foundation for comb building and honey storage.
The wedged top bar features a removable wedge strip that securely holds wired beeswax foundation in place. The split bottom bar allows the foundation to rest neatly within the groove, preventing bowing or distortion during use. Together, these design elements ensure a tight fit that supports heavy honeycomb during extraction and inspection.
The sidebars include pre-drilled holes for additional horizontal support wires, which can be threaded through the frame to reinforce the comb. This feature is particularly helpful when using wax foundation, as it prevents sagging or collapse when the frames are filled with honey.
Medium frames are most often used in honey supers, but can also serve as brood boxes in medium-depth hive setups. These frames are sold unassembled and can be put together easily using standard tools such as a hammer and good quality wood glue. Proper construction ensures long-term stability and prevents frame separation inside the hive.
Each frame is designed to fit standard Langstroth medium boxes and is compatible with 100% beeswax medium foundation with wires for strong, natural comb production.
