DESCRIPTION

8-Frame Cypress Medium 6 5/8-inch Super Box

The 8-Frame Cypress Medium Super Box is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment in the hive. Most commonly used as a honey super, it gives bees the space they need to store surplus honey for harvest. In an 8-frame medium hive setup, it can also serve as a brood box, providing room for the queen to lay eggs and expand the colony. Built from durable cypress wood, this box is made to last through seasons of beekeeping and weather alike.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Cypress construction: Built from 7/8-inch smooth, rot-resistant cypress boards.
  • Multi-use box: Commonly used for honey supers or brood boxes.
  • Assembly options: Choose unassembled, assembled, or assembled and painted.
  • Premium finish: Painted boxes include primer and UV-resistant white paint.
  • Durable build: Assembled with Titebond wood glue and staples for lasting strength.
  • Feeder compatible: Can be used to surround feeders like baggie, Boardman, or top feeders.

Detailed Description

This medium-depth cypress box is designed for use with standard 8 Frame Beekeeping Kit and is most often used as a honey super. The medium box provides bees with ideal space to store honey above the brood nest. However, when used with an 8-frame medium hive setup, it can also serve as a brood box for the queen to lay eggs.

Every box is built from 7/8-inch thick, smooth cypress wood, chosen for its natural rot resistance and long life, even without paint. The sturdy design ensures it can handle years of use while maintaining a tight, reliable fit with other hive components.

You can choose to order your box unassembled, assembled, or assembled and painted. When you select the assembled option, your box is built using Titebond wood glue and staples, creating a secure hold that won’t loosen over time. The painted option includes a coat of white primer and a premium-quality UV-resistant white paint finish, which helps protect against moisture and sunlight.

While frames and foundation are required for use as a honey or brood box, an empty box can also be used to house feeders such as baggie, Boardman, or top feeders. For customers ordering by shipment, we recommend choosing the complete box with frames and foundation instead of ordering individual parts, as this helps reduce shipping costs.

At Foxhound Bee Company, we’ve set ourselves apart by using high-quality cypress in all our hive equipment. This durable wood and careful construction ensure your beekeeping equipment lasts season after season.

Best Customer Service

These boxes are so easy to put together, but I was still able to mess up. I put a handled side of board on the inside, but not before gluing and nailing it nice and tight. When I saw my error I quickly tried to pry it off with no luck. I busted the board into two. So now my box is ruined. I called Foxhound and they happily sent me a replacement board for free!
