Detailed Description

The Entrance Pollen Trap is designed to harvest pollen directly at the hive entrance. As worker bees return from foraging, they pass through small openings that gently remove pollen pellets from their hind legs. These pellets fall into a collection basket below the entrance, where they can be gathered by the beekeeper.

The trap features an adjustable front door that allows you to control whether pollen is being collected. When the door is closed, bees are forced through the trap openings, and pollen is collected. When the door is open, bees can enter freely without losing pollen.

For best results, the door should be left in the same position for several days to allow the colony to adjust to the new entrance configuration. Even when the trap is closed, some pollen will still make it into the hive, helping ensure the colony continues to meet its nutritional needs.

Before installing the trap, it is important to close off any other hive entrances so that bees must pass through the pollen trap. The collection tray should be emptied daily or every other day to keep pollen fresh and prevent buildup.
