HIGH-QUALITY EQUIPMENT: We have set ourselves apart by supplying high-quality equipment to beekeepers and our kits are where we started doing this. The wood we use is a durable, 7/8-inch thick, smooth cypress board that is naturally rot-resistant and will last decades even without paint. Besides our cypress wood, we choose to use precision cut frames and foundation with double the beeswax on it as our competition, so you and your bees will be happy with our equipment.
WHO IS THIS KIT FOR? This particular kit is the biggest bang for your buck in the pieces you get and how much room it provides for a colony of bees. The equipment included is an ample amount of room for a queen to lay eggs in and store honey for the winter in. This setup is popular with beekeepers who value efficiency and value. It's also popular with beekeepers who want to possibly sell bees as it makes it very simple to move frames around because the frames and boxes are all the same size. The downside is the deep boxes are the heaviest to lift and can be too heavy for many beekeepers to lift.
- WHAT'S INCLUDED? This 8 frame kit includes 1 telescoping cover, 1 inner cover, 1 screened bottom board, 2 deep boxes, 16 deep wooden frames, 16 deep sheets double wax foundation, and 1 entrance reducer. The equipment included is designed to be what 1 colony of bees will live year-round, adding additional boxes as necessary and removing the added boxes when harvesting excess honey.
IS THIS ENOUGH EQUIPMENT? The pieces in this kit should be enough for 1 colony of bees to live in during its first year. All beekeeping is different and depends significantly on climate, but this kit works for most of the US. It is possible to need 1 more medium box and frames during the first year, especially if you start the colony with a nucleus hive or live in a sub-tropical climate. We recommend getting 1 more medium box with frames just in case. If not used during year 1, it will be needed during year 2.
CHOOSE YOUR FINISH OPTION: We enjoy serving our customers and one way we do that is to give customers the option to choose if they would like their equipment unassembled, assembled, or assembled and painted. On all of our kits, the boxes and frames are the only parts that would need any assembling. When choosing the assembled option, we will assemble your boxes and frames/foundation with staples and wood glue so you can be assured they will never fall apart. If choosing assembled and painted, we will assemble your equipment, coat with a white primer, and finish with a layer of premium-quality, UV-resistant white paint on the outside of the equipment.
WANT TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR KIT? If you would like to customize the kit in any way like opting for foundationless frames or a solid bottom board instead of a screened, we recommend building your own kit and adding the separate pieces to the cart. This way you can get the bee equipment you want.
