Detailed Description

The Stainless Steel Frame Wire Spool is used when assembling frames that contain natural wax foundation. The thin 26-gauge wire is stretched horizontally across the frame to provide support for the wax foundation sheet.

Natural wax foundation is soft and flexible, so the wire helps keep it straight and stable during normal hive activity and inspections. Wiring frames is especially common for deep brood frames, where additional support is helpful.

After installing the wire in the frame, it is embedded into the wax foundation using tools such as a spur embedder, brass eyelets, and a wire crimper. The wire can also be embedded using an electric wire embedder, which heats the wire slightly so it settles into the wax.

Using frame wire is a traditional and reliable way to reinforce wax foundation and improve the durability of assembled frames.
