Start by using the Varroa Easy Check to determine mite levels. Collect 200–300 bees from the brood area, shake them with alcohol or washer fluid, and count the mites that fall through the strainer. If treatment is needed, use Apiguard trays as directed based on the outside temperature.

Apply 50g per hive when temperatures are below 77°F (25°C) and reduce to 25g when consistently above that. Place trays on the top bars of brood frames. After 14 days, apply a second tray. Do not treat when honey supers are on the hive.
