Usage Instructions

Begin by using the Varroa Easy Check to determine if your hives are above the mite treatment threshold. Collect a sample of bees (200–300) and shake them in the container with alcohol or washer fluid to dislodge mites. Count the mites to assess infestation.

If treatment is needed, use 2 Apivar strips per brood box (1 strip per 5 frames of bees). Suspend the strips between brood frames and leave in place for 42 days. Remove after 6–8 weeks and do not reuse. Wait at least 14 days before placing honey supers back on.

Once mite thresholds are exceeded, the Apivar Strips step in. Each strip is infused with Amitraz, a synthetic miticide, and designed to deliver consistent contact dosing to bees, who then spread the active ingredient throughout the colony. Safe for brood and adult bees, Apivar is especially helpful during midsummer when colonies are brood-rich but honey supers have been removed.
